Classes ranging from 4 Years Old to Ageless

We believe that children of 4 years old, and adults with no age limit, can and will benefit from the life changing art/sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We train in a family friendly environment with sound fundamentals, a close eye on all students and a tailored approach for everyone as an individual! Thats why we like to say, “Timeless Jiu Jitsu” and “Jiu Jitsu for Everyone”

Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Kids

We believe that the best time for people to start their Jiu Jitsu journey is at as early an age as possible. We have children in our academy at 4 yrs old but our own children were rolling around on the mats earlier than that. In recent years the Jiu Jitsu industry has seen an exponential increase in talent coming into the adult ranks by the teens that started training as far back as their memories go. We call that generation the “Jiu Jitsu Kids”

We start with our Kids programs at the younger ages with learning blocks that are not difficult to follow. We want them to remember the basic ideas in Jiu Jitsu and a few of the themes that they can return to without thinking that will serve them well into the future. As kids get older, we introduce techniques and concepts that will challenge them and also help them into a self-creative mindset.

The Kids Programs are broken into four groups, our Little Monsters (Ages 4-6), Monsters (Ages 7-8), Youth (Ages 9-12) and Teens (Ages 13-15).

Little Monsters (4-6 yrs old)

We take our youngest group into the basic ideas and concepts of Jiu Jitsu. Learning how to take instruction is one of the main goals for this group. We then add most of the basic positions and work on the how’s, when’s and why’s related to them all. We do this in a structured, interactive and fun way. We instill in them a sense of perseverance and encouragement during this phase.

Monsters (7-8 yrs old)

In this group, the students move into slightly more advanced concepts inside all of the Jiu Jitsu positions and work on basic defense, escapes, controls and attacks. This idea and theme is actually repeated  throughout all of our classes for all ages.

Youth (Ages 9-12)

In these major development ages we continue the focus on sound fundamentals and start honing in on details that will make the difference between success or not in any given situation.

Teens (Ages 13-15)

This is our newest class offering and we are excited at cultivating this age group in a bridge toward them being in our adult classes. This is a great environment for our coaches to be helping to develop each student’s Jiu Jitsu language.

Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Adults

We have a variety of day/time options for our Adults classes. This is where students of all belt ranks and age demographics work together and drill various aspects of all of the main positions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our coaches employ a linear block teaching curriculum that focuses on one aspect of a particular position. Each week we focus on a theme such as Defense, Escapes, Controls, Attacks, and then we apply all of them together in a light roll live week.

Although there are a number of belt ranks and degrees inside of those belts, Jiu Jitsu is a life time learning, growing and sharing experience for all. Ultimately, no ones journey is like anyone else’s. There is no comparison between one student and another. The journey through the ranks of Jiu Jitsu is a long long one, so our philosophy is to become a life learner and to do so in an environment that is challenging while being safe and rewarding at the same time.

Ultimately, we want to share and celebrate the time invested on the mats and the experiences that come along with that. It is through those two components of the equation that produces wisdom in the Jiu Jitsu journey.

Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals

Our adults programs are designed around thew timeless fundamental principles of Jiu Jitsu. Here is where all students learn to move from almost any vantage point and how to participate and drill with other students in a constructive way. While we never “graduate” from the need to improve our fundamentals, it is the best path to begin your Jiu Jitsu journey. This class gives a solid base teaching of both sport jiu jitsu and self-defense or combatives jiu jitsu as brought to us by our founding fathers.

Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Competition Team

From time to time when our athletes are preparing for a competition, there are extra days and training blocks that are centered on and around the rule sets and rigors of Competition Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Most people will never compete in Jiu Jitsu, but instead want to utilize the sport/art as a personal hobby and lifestyle enhancement. We have no expectancy for anyone to compete, but there are people who wish to go down that road. We have competitors at all age, gender, belt and skill levels.

In this environment, our athletes are immersed in intense situations and scenarios with a host of partners that are there to emulate opponents they will likely face in a competitive situation.

Competitions can occur in the local area, but there are opportunities in the future for out of state and even international events, that the academy may take place in.

As we’ve seen in our first competition as a young academy, these events are a great way for the entire academy to support the athletes by encouraging them in training and also traveling together to experience the event as an academy family!
