About Us
Rilion Gracie Freeeport was started by Rob & Lisa Braniff and their family in March of 2021, originally as Freeport Jiu Jitsu, as a way to continue spreading the life benefits of Jiu Jitsu to as many people as possible in the Freeport area.
In early 2024 conversations with the Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu organization led us to partner with them and in May 2024 officially became Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Freeport.
Through this globally respected affiliation, we believe that many more in Freeport will come to embrace and love the life changing art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Rilion Gracie Freeport Leadership
All of our staff are trained and qualified with a track record of service and humility.
Rob Braniff
Rob is the Owner/Lead Coach of Rilion Gracie Freeeport. He has an extensive background in combative arts, strength & conditioning, health & fitness and sports promotion.
Rob has worked with various groups and agencies serving demographics such as military teams and personnel, law enforcement, athletes, seniors and special needs populations.
Rob is currently a Brown Belt under Professor Marcelo Herz, 6th Degree Black Belt under Master Rilion Gracie
Marcelo Herz
Professor Marcelo is a 6th Degree Black Belt under Master Rilion Gracie.
Professor Marcelo is from Brazil and has been a Black Belt for 27 years, as well as a decorated IBJJF Athlete and an academy Owner in the organization.
He is mentor to Coach Rob and his staff at the academy.
Josiah Braniff
Josiah started his martial arts journey through Jiu Jitsu at the age of 5.
Josiah is an assistant coach for all kids, youth and teen classes.
He is currently a Blue Belt after graduating in June ’25 from the Youth Belt ranks.
Allison Arreguin
Allison and her family are original members of the academy. Allison has a background in Law Enforcement and her husband is an Army Special Forces veteran.
Allison competes as a part of the Rilion Gracie competition team and coaches our Home School Day Class, as well as our Ladies Classes!
She is currently a Blue Belt.
Angel Arreguin
Angel and his family are original members of the academy. Angel is a retired Combat Veteran with the US Army, as a Special Forces Green Beret, having served through multiple deployments both against the global war on terrorism and in assisting friendly governments. He also instructed at the SOCP (Special Operations Combative's Program).
Angel has a wrestling background, competes on the Rilion Gracie Competition Team and is a Coach for our Adults program!
He is currently a Purple Belt.
Lisa Braniff
Lisa is the administrator and frankly the glue in keeping all systems operational at the academy! From greeting students and families, to tying untold number of kids belts, helping families get enrollment set up, to apparel and equipment ordered, accounting and many more things, she is the first and last at Freeport Jiu Jitsu!
